Heat Sink Fabrication

Custom Aluminum and Copper Heat Sink Fabrication

Heat sinks are devices that enhance heat dissipation from a hot surface to cooler ambient fluids, usually air. A heat sink does this by increasing the surface area that is in contact with the cooling fluid.

Aluminum extrusions are the most cost effective solution for cooling a majority of electronic devices. The versatility of the aluminum extrusion process allows for a wide variety of geometric configurations. Extrusion die tooling is also relatively inexpensive when compared to many other forms of tooling. Our engineering staff is prepared to assist you with your design to help reduce cost and improved extrudability.

To facilitate rapid prototyping we stock over 250 heat sink extrusion profiles for purchase in small lot sizes. In some cases samples are available also. This material can typically ship out in 2-3 days.

If your thermal dissipation requirements cannot be met with the extrusion process, we also manufacture bonded fin heat sinks, folded fin heat sinks, and our patent pending process for “laminated” heat sinks. Please see our products page for more information on all types of heat sinks we manufacture.

Custom Extrusions

Custom Extrusions

We exploit the versatility of the aluminum extrusion process to supply many different precision manufactured parts to our customers in the electronics, telecommunications, computer, food service, automotive and medical industries.

Extrusion Features
We can extrude up to a 12″ wide heat sink extrusion
Heat sinks wider than 12″ can be manufactured using our weld-assebly process
Alloys: 6061,6063, and 6005

We recognize the demand for short extrusion prototype and prototype and production lead times. On an expedited basis we can deliver samples from a newly tooled  extrusion shape in three to four weeks in some cases!

For more information on the extrusion process see our parent company website and information at www.alexandriaextrusion.com.

Machining and Finishing

Machining and Finishing

Multiple CNC machining centers and our Statistical Process Control (SPC) production monitoring techniques enable us to produce parts exactly to your precise specifications. All our work methods are ISO 9002 modeled.

Extruded shapes can be cut with consistent accuracy to ± .002 on our precision automatic cut-off saw. Our CNC machines are capable of exacting repeatability with tolerances of ± .0003.

Our operations are designed to support production quantities from single prototypes to high volume production runs. We also recognize the industry demand for short production lead times. Therefore, we manage our shop so that delivery times of three to four weeks or less are possible on small production runs. Machined prototypes in two weeks or less is our goal!

In-house operations and/or supplier relationships allow us to compliment our machining capability.

Thermal Management Solutions

  • Thermal Engineering Support
  • Design Assistance
  • Quick Prototypes

Thermal management optimization and ease of manufacture are essential elements of thermal solutions and product design. Our Engineers have many years of both thermal and design experience. At no charge we will review your application and lend thermal engineering and manufacturing design support. Quite often our engineering assistance yields a design that is less costly to manufacture and thermally performs more effectively. Invariably this saves you money and time to market.

Our CAD systems can receive most types of electronic drawing formats. Also, as part of your product development, we can rapidly produce prototypes and conduct thermal performance assessments to help you ensure that your design meets all of your application requirements.
